New Zealand native Lorde has been taking the music world by storm as of late.
She is a current Grammy-nominee, one of the categories she's nominated for being Song of the Year. She is also on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine this month and her first single "Royals" reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this past year. Which makes Lorde the first ever New Zealand solo artist to have a number one song in America.
Everyone I'm sure has heard of Lorde by now, whether on the radio, TV or word of mouth her music is everywhere! But there may be something that you might not know about Ella Yelich-O'Connor, that being that she is still technically in highschool.
Because she is only 17 years old!
Honestly, I am a huge fan of Lorde and her music! I really think it's so inspiring to see such a young heart climb the charts the way she is. What I find interesting is her look on what this sudden burst of fame may do to her writing. When Rolling Stone asked her if her perspective has changed due to the success of "Royals" one of the things she said was "It will be interesting to see how something like this manifests itself creatively for me."
Lorde's cryptic lyrics and writing style is also what I enjoy the most when it comes to her music. Its really interesting to hear and see a 17 year old Grammy-nominee blending aspects of poetry with music.
My favorite songs by Lorde right now are probably "White Teeth Teens" and "Tennis Court" and I can't forget "Team" as well! Check them out right here.
